Well the championship game for this NCAA tournament has come to end. The game took place last Monday, April 2. And in case you haven’t already heard, for some reason, the March Madness champions this year were the Kentucky Wildcats. Their opponents in this game were the Kansas Jayhawks. The Wildcats won with the final score at 67-59. This made Kentucky’s eighth national championship. The team’s first national win was in 1948, they won the following year as well. They got a third win in the year 1951, then seven years later in 1958. After quite a few years the team won the championship in the 1978, then 18 years later in 1996, then in 1998. They’ve had a pretty good record, I would be totally satisfied with 8 titles!
It was a very exciting game Kentucky’s top performer was none other than Doron Lamb; he scored 22 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. This kid is one great player. He’s a sophomore and has the option to enter the 2012 draft as a first round pick. He scored a very large portion of their points and is an invaluable resource to the team. He nailed three pointers like a machine, with back-to-back threes in the last 10 minutes to ensure Kentucky’s victory. Kansas’s Thomas Robinson had a pretty good game with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 1 assist; but it came to no avail in this NCAA tournament.
All in all it was a great tournament. Kentucky was the team that most people had picked as the most likely to win, and it came true. I wonder if Kentucky is going to still have such a great basketball team if Lamb decides to put in for the draft. But we’ll worry about that when next season comes! This NCAA tournament is over, so it’s time to start looking forward to the NBA playoffs which are fast approaching. Be sure to root for the Miami Heat! Let me know what you think about the tournament, or tell me if you had predicted Kentucky to be the winner!
