A big topic in sports these days is the NBA lockout. The lockout means that the NBA 2011-12 season may be shortened, or maybe even cancelled altogether. With this impending idea, a lot of ball players are considering playing overseas, players such as; Carmelo Anthony, of the New York Knicks, Ron Artest and Kobe Bryant, from the Los Angeles Lakers. Although his teammates, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are toying with the idea of playing for another country, LeBron James is not. James is very optimistic on the outlook of the coming season.
Some players have already arranged to play for other countries, Deron Williams, of the New Jersey Nets, included. Williams signed a contract with Besiktas, Turkey worth $5 million.
With all these NBA stars considering leaving the U.S. to play ball, you might think all the excitement will be gone out of the game, but don’t worry. A lot of star players are not thinking about playing abroad such as LeBron James, mentioned earlier, Dirk Nowitski, and a “would-be” rookie in the upcoming season Jimmer Fredette.
So if you’re thinking that if the season does proceed to happen, and the sport will lose some of it’s excitement due to influential ball players leaving, or thinking about leaving. Fret not, for there are lot of athletes staying here.
